Review: High Street Victorian Bed & Breakfast, Boonville 12/19/09
"Christmas came early this year as my wife, Susan, and I stayed at the High Street Victorian over the first week in December. Booneville was in the midst of its Holiday Festival...and we were right in the middle of it all. You might have seen the photos of the HSV's halls decked with boughs of holly...but to experience it in person is a singular thrill that would warm the heart of even a Scrooge such as myself. Brightly decorated, and thoughtfully themned Christmas trees adorn every room. The main tree in the living room is adorned with authentic Victorian candle holders and a host of other antique ornaments. The dining room (my favorite!) has a tree with handcrafted (by Kriss) ornaments of tea cups and saucers. Another tree downstairs is decorated with family photographs which are at the same time fun and poignant. Up on the second floor the Toy Tree is overflowing with -- you guessed it -- toys carefully saved from a dozen or more Christmases past. A tabletop snow scene will
capture your imagination. The tree in the Rose Room, where we stayed (my favorite room without a breakfast) was meticulously stylized in Victorian wedding regalia -- a tribute to the woman who wore the wedding dress that sets off the tone of the room. Ask Kriss about it. And, aside from the house, Boonville takes on a Dickensonian feel with decorated store windows, miles of lights, and carriage rides through the center of town. The trees, dormant in winter, take on their own stark beauty. Something those of us from sunny Southern California don't get to see even at Christmas time.
I could go on...but I leave it to you to stay with Gene and Kriss, Belle and Willow, at Christmas, spring, summer or fall for a Bed and Breakfast experience that will certainly bring you back."

"I'm not a huge fan of Victorian living, but the High Street Victorian made me a believer! The house is immaculate! Housedogs Willow and Belle aren't just great dogs, they are the greatest dogs! I felt comfortable enough to hang my Panama hat on the hook at the door. Kriss sensed our every need. Our room, the Rose Room was large and comfy. It had an attached bathroom that made the stay that much more comfortable. I told you about the bed, now let me tell you about the breakfast.
Kriss cuts no corners using the freshest local ingredients whenever possible. Fresh sausages from the local butcher. Fresh eggs delivered by the egg man. ... more

High Street Victorian Bed and Breakfast – Boonville

We rode last weekend from Columbia to Boonville and stayed here on Halloween nite. Just up the street about a half a block from the southern foot of the bridge on High Street this B&B is ideally located. We ate on Main a few blocks away.
There are several nice features of this old house that are not often seen. The host and hostess were both very hospitible making this a great place to stay that is close to the eateries on Main, the casino, and the Katy Trail. No need to ride up Lard Hill to hit the motel district.
We also had a spot to park the tandem....which can be an issue at times. No problem here though!

"We were treated royally as guests of the High Street Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Boonville. The hosts of the gorgeous 1880 Victorian home treated us as royal guests. Chocolate silk pie with homemade raspberry sauce ended our evening and we woke to a delicious breakfast that left us almost too full to pedal!

"We recently stayed 3 nights at the High Street Victorian and did a couple of short day trips returning here for the night. We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful B&B! I really appreciated the way Kriss went out of her way to accommodate my special dietary restrictions!This was the best experience ever! We definately will be back!"

"I'm not sure I've words enough to truly explain how wonderful our experience at Gene and Kriss's High Street Victorian B & B was. From a beautiful restored home to incredible homemade brownies, breakfast, and cinnamon rolls, not a detail was overlooked. Gene and Kriss are wonderful people, and they certainly understand perfectly how to create an experience for those getting the chance to stay with them. I've stayed at many locations along the trail, and the High Street Victorian is certainly among the finest I've encountered."
